Salford ask Hull FC for postponement

Salford Red Devils have asked Hull FC permission to postpone Friday’s Super League game, which is due to be played at the KC Stadium.

The club tweeted: “Due to unprecedented injury crisis we have requested this Friday’s game v @hullfcofficial be postponed. We are awaiting Hull response.”
The Red Devils had 12 absentees for Sunday’s 22-20 defeat at home to Castleford and head coach Iestyn Harris was reportedly considering naming his 38 year-old assistant coach Ian Watson against the Tigers.
“He was pretty close to playing today and he’ll be closer next week,” Harris said of Wales international half-back Watson. “He’s been upping his training just in case.”

Rangi Chase, Weller Hauraki, Cory Paterson and Darrell Griffin were all suspended for Sunday’s defeat and Harris confirmed his side picked up more injuries during the game; “We had a lot of guys out there who were busted. We only had one change at the end and Scott Taylor did 80 minutes today, which was a terrific effort,” he told the club’s website.”Liam Hood has gone to hospital, Mozza has turned an ankle and Godwin got smacked around the head and looks as though he’s going to come under the concussion rule.”

The RFL are aware of Salford’s request to call-off Friday’s game but said it will only step in if there was “a player welfare issue.”
