Wakefield Wildcats have boosted their squad with the signing of Michael Sio.
The 22 year-old former New Zealand Warriors hooker has signed an 18-month deal at Belle Vue.
The Samoan international has been playing in the Queensland Cup for Mackay Cutters but said that new Wildcats coach Brian Smith was a major factor in him heading to West Yorkshire.
“To be given the opportunity to join Wakefield and play under Brian Smith, there was never any doubt as to if I would go,” Sio told the club’s website.
Wakefield are nine points adrift at the bottom of Super League and face potential relegation to the Championship after the middle 8 phase.
“I know we have a fight on our hands but I can’t wait to get over there,” the club’s new signing added.
