Sam Tomkins has been ruled out of England’s test series against New Zealand this November.
The Wigan Warriors full back has been out of action since August with a knee injury and the 26 year-old has failed to recover in time for the three-match series.
Tomkins, who has spent the last two years in playing for New Zealand Warriors in the NRL, tweeted that he was “gutted not to be pulling on the England shirt.”
England coach Steve McNamara said: “It’s a great shame but it wasn’t to be. Sam is devastated to miss out.”
2015 Man of Steel winner Zak Hardaker is likely to start at number one against the Kiwis in the first test this Sunday at the KC Stadium in Hull.
