Sinfield kicks points on union debut

Former Leeds Rhinos and England captain Kevin Sinfield made his rugby union debut on Sunday – and kicked his first points in his new code.

The 35 year-old came off the bench for the final quarter of an hour and kicked a penalty for new side Yorkshire Carnegie as they beat Ospreys Premiership Select 32-10 at Headingley.

Sinfield linked up with his new club last month and coach Brian Redpath had been sufficiently impressed with the all-time Super League leading points scorer that he handed him his debut on Sunday.

Sinfield, who also missed a touchline conversion late on, agreed an 18-month deal with Carnegie.
