Championship side Leigh Centurions have signed Rangi Chase on a two-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months.
The 2011 Man of Steel was a free agent after being released from his four-year contract at Salford following a ‘disciplinary procedure.’
The 29 year-old England international stand-off scored seven tries in 17 appearances for the Red Devils last season, but did not feature for them following the 41-10 defeat to Bradford Bulls in the Middle 8s.
Chase moved to Salford from Castleford, where he made 129 appearances during five seasons at the club.
“It’s not a gamble to step down a division. I’m looking forward to enjoying my footy again which I will do here,” Chase told a Leigh press conference.
Centurions head coach Paul Rowley said of his latest signing: “Rangi has undoubted class that I am sure will flourish within our team. I will look forward to challenging Rangi in different roles to ensure we bring the best out of him and that the team benefits from his presence.”
