Wigan Warriors head coach Shaun Wane says Greg Burke’s return is like welcoming a ‘new signing’ to the club.
The 22 year-old spent 2015 on loan with Hull KR, making 21 appearances for the Robins.
Wane told Wigan Evening Post: “Greg looks in good shape, and he seems to be more mature than the player who left
“He’s a Wigan lad and going away to a new club, a new environment and having to make a new bunch of friends, it’s helped him.
“And of course he gained a lot of playing experience, and hopefully that will help him kick on.”
Burke made 17 appearances for the Warriors in 2013 but struggled to hold down a first-team place the following year, making just six appearances for the Cherry and Whites.
The second rower also spent time on loan at Bradford Bulls in 2014, but injury curtailed his campaign with the West Yorkshire side.
“I see him as a middle, and we want him to really challenge for a first-team place,” added Wane.
