Leeds Rhinos will take on Bradford Bulls for Carl Abblett’s testimonial game.
The Yorkshire rivals will meet on January 24th as part as Ablett’s year-long testimonial.
The 29 year-old, who made his Rhinos debut in 2004, has gone on to make over 200 appearances for his hometown club.
He told the Rhinos’ website: “I would like to thank Marc Green, Robbie Paul, James Lowes and the Bulls players for agreeing to come over to Headingley Carnegie for my testimonial. As a Leeds fan growing up, the game against the Bulls was always the highlight of the year, it is unfortunate that the derby has left Super League for now but this will be a great chance to renew old rivalries and friendships.”
The second-rower was the only player to feature in every game last season as Leeds clinched an historic treble, winning the League Leaders’ Shield, Challenge Cup and Grand Final.
The England international believes that the game will be a great opportunity for Rhinos supporters to see the new-look team:
“We have got a number of new faces in our squad and this will be a great chance for fans to see them in action before the start of the new season which starts just 11 days later,” Ablett added.
