Powell expecting big things in 2016

Castleford Tigers head coach Daryl Powell believes 2016 will be a successful campaign for his side.

The Tigers defeated local rivals Wakefield 32-6 in a warm up game on Sunday, and after the match Powell told the club’s website: “I think we are capable of doing something special here this season.”

Denny Solomona scored half of Cas’ points with four tries, while Oliver Holmes, Luke Dorn and Joel Monaghan each crossed for one apiece.

“We should be ambitious and the boys believe it too. Today was a big step in the right direction. The boys enjoy playing for this team, and that’s a big thing,” Powell added.

The victory was the Tigers third win of preseason with one final warm up game to come on Friday away at Bradford Bulls.
