Giants hand trial to former Saint Foster

Injury ravaged Huddersfield Giants have handed a trial to former St Helens and Bradford Bulls back Jamie Foster.

The Giants are currently without captain Danny Brough, Craig Huby, Luke Robinson, Jared Simpson, Joe Wardle, Scott Grix and Kyle Wood through injuries.

25 year-old Foster joined the Bulls in 2013 but was released at the end of the 2014 season before briefly converting to rugby union.

In total Foster has notched up over 1000 points in 98 appearances in rugby league, including 34 tries in 54 appearances for Saints between 2010 and 2012.

Giants’ managing director Richard Thewlis told the Huddersfield Examiner: “Jamie is currently unattached and keen to get back into the Super League environment as quickly as possible, so we’re looking to see that hunger and desire as soon as he starts training with us today.

“He knows we’ve handed him a potential lifeline after a couple of years in the Super League wilderness, while we know that if he can re-discover the form he showed at the start of his career he could be a very good asset for us.”
