Castleford second rower Junior Moors could be out for up to six weeks having had an operation on his hand.
Moors was injured during Friday night’s defeat at St Helens and was joined in the Tigers medical room by prop Grant Millington and stand off Ben Roberts.
Millington picked up an elbow injury while Roberts damaged his foot at Langtree Park and all three are doubts for the Tigers’ game with Salford at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle this Sunday.
Head coach Daryl Powell confirmed that Moors will definitely spend a substantial period on the sidelines: “Junior has had an operation on his hand and he will be out for potentially six weeks which is a tough one to take, because he’s been playing really well.” Powell told the Tigers’ official website.
Powell also explained the severity of Millington’s injury, although he hopes the 29 year-old won’t require surgery: “Grant Millington hyperextended his elbow and again there is no break in there but there is a rupture of a ligament which is not great, but hopefully he won’t need surgery and again it will depend on how he feels and when the soreness subsides.”
However, the extent of Roberts’ injury is unclear, as Powell explained: “Ben Roberts has got a foot injury that is not broken which is good news, but he has a ligament tear. We are not really sure on the severity, the feedback from our physio Matty Crowther is that we’ll have to gauge off Benny just how long he might be out, but it is not as bad as it could have been at this point.”
