Anderson hails medical team after win

Huddersfield Giants head coach Paul Anderson praised the performances of Kyle Wood, Eorl Crabtree and Joe Wardle as the trio returned from injury in Sunday’s win over Hull KR.

Anderson also commended the work of his medical team as the Giants picked up their first win of the season.

Wakefield loanee Jordan Tansey scored on his Huddersfield debut, while Michael Lawrence, Aaron Murphy, Jermaine McGilvary and Larne Patrick also crossed in a 38-6 win at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Anderson told the Giants’ official website: “Winning is definitely better than losing, I think we created a lot of opportunities within the game but we just need to get people back out onto the field and train them continuously but we stayed patient and built up some good pressure.

“The number one thing is that we have got players back and they are healthy and ready to play. Those three players did really well and so did Jordan Tansey. I have got to give a lot of praise to our medical staff in Alastair McFarland, Oliver Waite and Will Franklin, because they have done a great job.”

Of the returning trio, Anderson said: “Kyle grew into the game, all the returning players got better as the game went on and that is the main thing for us, that our boys that have come out of rehab are staying out of rehab and that’s a massive thing for us.”

“We just need to get people back on the field and training continuously. We’ve not lost anybody else today which is a positive,” Anderson added.

The victory moves the Giants up to 9th in the table ahead of Sunday’s home game against Catalans Dragons.
